Congenital Syphilis Cases Highest in >25 Years

Cases of congenital syphilis in the United States are higher than any time since 1994.

The totals reflect increases across the country in cases of untreated syphilis among women and their male sexual partners, according to Virginia Bowen, PhD, an epidemiologist in the CDC’s Division of STD Prevention (N Engl J Med 2021;385:1144-1145).
